I have these finished goodies I made. The one skein wonder, what a great and fun knitting project. It is a present for my niece Cindys bday. I also have a beautiful red beanie for my niece Ciaras bday they are sisters and they share the same birthday afew years apart. I made it with the coolest silk/soy yarn go figure and It is softer than cashmere, yum. I also made a pair of socks for my niece Lauren she is the first and only family member who has read my blog and actually left a comment let me take that back numerous comments, Big gRiN! My friends and family have come by but they don't leave comments. So with that ding, ding, ding you win a prize hand make socks.

I saw my girlfriend at a meeting the other night and look what she gave me a birthday present, big smile. I actually wanted to buy this book and haven't gotten a chance. I love Japanese anything and she gave me this beautiful scarf. I also got this cool sushi maker, but what I am missing is the recipe to the yummy spam rolls she makes. I love spam rolls! I am a bit loopy from the new medicine I am on. But lets see, here is my progress on my one skein wonder. I am ready to start the sead stitch for sleeves. Here is one of the two discs I left the other in the car when I took the pictures, sorry I recieved from Katie at http://oltremare.diaryland.com/ she put so much thought and time into the song selection and artwork. The music is great it is as she termed it mellow, folky, alt-country kinda stuff. I am looking forward to the other cd's. It is so exciting to see and hear the different variety of music combinations each person comes up with. All I can say is mine were very random, smile! My sockapaltwoza pal Jessica http://showmeyourknits.typepad.com/ received her socks I made for the exchange and I am tickled she liked them and they fit since I am not very acurate in the swatching and measuring department yet, so yippee! I am waiting on pins and needles for my socks the anticipation. So much fun getting mail especially when your under the weather. I better dash I am starting to feel icky again.

I have a new digital, yeepee! You can't see it duh, cuz I am using it. So I took a picture of the box. It is so cute and I love that it is so small it fits in my purse. I have to say the last few days have been wonderful. I am blessed! I am still not feeling well. I did find out one of my problems is a large hernia in my esophagus. So I am getting a Bravo Capsule monitoring device inserted into my esophagus and then I get a pager sized reciever to wear on my belt. I am not too keen on all this but, then if the pain will stop then I am all for it. After the data is read and then it is determined how to proceed basically surgery is what the Dr. said. So having a box of gifties sent to me by SP5 Angels absolutely cheered me up and made my day. So Peacock and Gipsieee THANK YOU!!!

Handpainted circulars, handmade stitch markers they are so delicate and beautiful they are made with shells and tiny beads. A hand crocheted flower it is made on such a tiny crochet hook and so much detail. I started to cry as I was opening the box. Absolutely everything is in shades of blue, my favorite color. Such wonderful and talented Angels.

No Pictures

I am a bit sad! I no longer have a digital camera. Sniff, sniff, sniff, argh, wwaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!catching my breath regaining composure deep breaths. I loaned it to my son, he went to Minnesota to see a Vikings game and well it is gone it was either dropped or taken. I feel bad for him because I know he had taken some wonderful pictures and he feels just awful. He wanted to use his allowance to replace it. Somewhere my camera is sitting missing me as much as I miss it. So until I can affored to get a new camera I have no new pictures to post. But I do know I am blessed! I think of all the Katrina victims and realize my camera is nothing compared to the loss and devistation being felt. So with that I pick up my chin and just want to say I will post pictures
when I am able to. I am knitting every chance I get. My sockapaltwoza socks are on their way and I am working on my CD's for "DDD" CD exchange I am in. I am going to admit I downloaded a few books of the Harry Potter Series onto my I-pod and am so addicted, Yikes! I love to read but being able to listen while I am driving, grocery shopping or on my way to work is pretty cool! I was way addicted to audio books a few years ago when my job required alot of driving.But this is neat-o! I can actually do chores, errands and even fun stuff thanks to technology, Yeepee!!!!!!!! I am so sad to say my secret pal has not revealed herself to me. I alway have believed the glass ia half full and not half empty so I am sure there must be a reason I just hope all is well in her life and she is ok. I look forward to finding out who she is.

I am on board again. sMiLe! This time around is totally different. I get to make a bag and kit for someone, ssshhh! Its a secret until they receive their goodies. So I get to lurk around their blog and find out their likes and dislikes and crafting wish of something they would like to make and create a kit. Sounds so fun Dahrling!!! I just love finding a giftie or tool or a little something or other that will put a smile on someones face. I have actually keeped in touch with my previous pals. It is so neat! I have been so lucky they are just incredible ladies, you know who you are! As for Secret Pal5 I recieved my final gift a $20.00 gift certificate to Yarn Market on Tuesday. I am going to have to go window shopping and see what goodies they have. I haven't bought anything from them yet, I am so sure I will get carried away. That would be me shopayarnaholic, is that a word or did a create a Cindyism? I still don't know who my Pal was maybe soon she will reveal herself.

I never thought my chubby fingers were capable of knitting with yarn that is as thick as dental floss and needles as thick as toothpicks. I guess this is my baby step to finer knitting humm... Well these socks are for my brother in law in Austria, yes I am using Styrian colors. He sent my sister to visit and set up a weekend for us in Santa Monica. We had so much fun we laughed till we had belly aches and stayed up till all hours and had some wonderful adventures with the kids. All in all it was a blast. So as I knit these thousands if itty bitty stitches I keep in mind how much fun we had. I hope he has just as much fun if not more each time he wears them and I think I will sprinkle them with giggle pixie dust them before I send them out. Actually I probably will not have to because as I have knitted them I have been laughing all along.

My immediate family consists of yes, girls! I have the only boy between my sisters and I, proud puffy chest sticking out here. My sister was living in Canada for a bit and has since returned to her home in Austria. But, I was gifted with a visit with her and two of her five, yes five daughters hee,hee! Oops! can't resist the giggles she insisted she was having boys each time. So from the left is my beautiful niece Angelina, my daughter in the middle and my beautiful namesake Baby Cindy on the right. See well I made a bet with my sister, she insisted she was having a boy but I told her she was having a girl and she would have to name her after me if I was right. Well not only was I right, she resembles me as well.

Lookie what I got from my babies. My babies ordered it special, grin. Its from my fav bakery Michelles Cakery. It was a mouth watering chocolate cake light as air with a chocolate mouse filling and whipped cream frosting. Michelle who make and designs the most amazing cakes you could ever imagine hand made each flower there are daisys, poppies and one of my favorite flowers tulips. I am one lucky gal!

I feel like this picture. I can't believe how fast time flies. I still think I am a teenager or is it that I just act that way? But my body does in fact says otherwise. The energy and metabolisim and yes I still have all those smaller sized jeans I used to fit into convinced I will again. I look at my crowded closet with its stuffed row of slacks and jean, lots of jeans because somehow I feel the need to hang onto all four sizes down I used to wear. Is it time to throw those out, I can't throw out but give away or donate? Lets put it this way there is a brand of jeans called Not My Daughters Jeans, so now I don't have to wear those new styles in my size with my muffin gut spilling over the top, Yay! Its my birthday tomorrow, Yes, I will be forty again! I look at my babies, well so they are actually young adults now and I know so far I have accomplished so much. I also look at today and know I will enjoy each moment and I made a promise to myself a while back I will have a laugh everyday. So with that I shall post orchids, I am having a lapse here so I can't at this moment remember the correct name, so I will call them "ORCHIDS" Maybe its true time or is it age affects the brain? Yikes and I was lacking there already watch out world.

I am so excited I have actual knitting content to post. I am a bit late on the band wagon but I actually started making French Market Bag from Knitty. I am using Araucania Nature Wool, in my favorite color blue. It has quite a bit of yardage on it about 240 yards. I am I would say about a third of the way up and I am still on the first skein. I have been wanting to make this since about January and I was worried about the start but so far it has been a easy knit. I am wondering how it will felt. I am happy to say that my backtack pal, I got the honor to be a angel, received her goodies and she likes them, bIG gRiN! she is Stacey over at sheepinthecity.prettyposies.com/

The bottom line is I sew way faster than I knit. So in honor of my sons 17th birthday on Saturday. He was a premie born at 27 weeks. I made the three sets of booties on Saturday night and on Sunday I made all the blankets and burp cloths and the two dolls. I definately sew faster than I can knit. I made these for Laura over at "The Premie Project" she is making a big drop off on September First.

I made two premie dolls. I made the boy one on the right as a reminder of my son Robb's "Rock" birth. He is going to be 17 on saturday. He was born when I was 27 weeks pregnant he weighed 1100 grams and dropped down to 600 grams at lowest weight. He is my miracle baby. Here are two of our many milestones while we were in N.I.C.U.. On the right my baby had gained a few grams so I was able to hold him once again. I look at this picture and look at my hand next to his, How tiny and precious, oh!, what a miracle I was given from heaven. On the left we had moved to the stage 2 and I was now able to hold and rock him once a day. Oh those treasured moments.

Dear Secret Pal, I am having a bit of a time trying to figure out what I should make from the most lovely alpaca cloud yarn you sent me. It is so incredible to touch I love the way it feels in my hands. But, I have NEVER ever tried to knit with such a lovely. I am pretty intimidated to say the least. I have gone through numerous books and I have kinda narrowed it down to a few. Let me know what you think. I took a picture of the yummies and two of the books, I can't find my other book Last Minute Knitted Gift its lost somewhere in my mess. On the left is Misty Garden fromScarf Style I am thinking thats a good choice. The one on the right is Lace Shawl from Sarah Dallas Knitting but it scares the beegeebees, outta me it starts by saying cast on 285 stitches yikes! Can't say I can even count that high, smile! I saw a pretty an dainty one Airy Scarf in Last Minute Knitted Gifts. So basically I am at my wits end or rather I am lacking the wits to make a choice. I turned the heel on one sock and I am getting ready to turn the other. I just love knitting with this yarn. Yummy, yummy Koigu merino wool. The colors are so beautiful they remind me Summer turning into Fall, golden sunsets and purple mountains. Hummm... should I give them a name? Big Grin!

I had the Honor of being a Angel. I made a knitting needle holder from a beautiful combination of purple and lavender fabrics. I used a leather lace and handmade ceramic button for the closure. I can't reveal anymore since the recipient hasn't recieved it yet. I am so excited I sure hope she likes it. I also included some stitch markers I made and a few other goodies.

well last night was a whopper of a night. I have as it turns out a severe case of bronchitis. I am in so much pain and exhausted from all the coughing. My daughter told me I am losing oxygen to my brain each time I cough Wow! now I really have alot to look forward too, yeepee... I am lacking as it is big grin. I would like to send a big thanks to my Dad and Daughter for staying with me in the emergency room it can get pretty bizare in there to say the least and I am not talking about the staff. All I can say is with the amount of time I have spent wiyh Dr's lately there should be some type of points a'la frequent flier miles. I would definately have some.

Well I am home under the weather, ugh! Last night I started to hear some rustling from from the other room and it was some beautiful Koigu in a colorway that reminds me of the sunsets in Arizona. It has gorgous shades of oranges, deep yellows and purples. It was asking me to make them into some yummy socks. So I am granting my Koigu's wish. I have them next to my other yummy socks. They are entirely different yet each so special in their own way.

My sock progess has been a bit interesting today. Tomorrow I get to have a Colonoscopy and a Upper Endoscopy all in one morning, Ugh! I have been stressing all day about it. But it has been pretty much stop and go all day on my socks. The wonderful tablets and gallon of awful tasting stuff is the culprit.
I sure hope my sock pal loves her socks. I love them. I am making them out of BALI by LLH it is a 50% Cotton & 50% Acrylic it is light lime green. I have lurked around her blog and she knits alot of socks, primarily wool. I sure hope she like these. They seem to be different than what she usually knits.

Well I have absolutely no knitting news. I almost completely frogged my beautiful hourglass sweater. I DO NOT understand how to attatch the sleeves I totally brained blanked. It is needless to say in shreds. I need to get it back on the needles I got so frustrated. I guess with all the stress I have been under I took it out on my sweater. I hope I can repair the mess I made. Well I have decided to give suzy a makeover hee, hee! all these reality shows on t.v. and I decided to make suzy over. I can say its been a real pleasure working with her. She doesn't complain and she will stay in place as I am pinning and draping muslin on her to create a pattern to make her all new again. She has been such a doll hee, hee!!

I have a awesome Secret Pal. I am embarassed to say I recieved this totally plain box with all this Gergeous Alpaca yarn any ideas Secret Pal what I should make? and yes, yes, yes cable holders yeepee!! You know I am a cableererer now. I am official 'cuz I made one whole thing Hee, Hee!!!! But last but not least I also got its called 'bee naturals' cuticle and nail oil it smells so fabulous. I am pretty jazzed about it because I have asbestos hands that are always dry. Well, the reason I am embaressed is because there was no note or anything and being the ditz I am I never put two and two together. I am so very sorry Secret Pal don't hate me!

I almost finished Nothing But a T-shirt. So I am now in a pickle. Since it is my first knitted anything that can be worn other than a scarf, beanie or poncho. I have to figure out how to assemble it. I am originally a sew-er-er so the temptation to walk on over to my sewing machine is making my palms itch. I bought a book The Knitters Book of Finishing Techniques now I need to figure out how to get all techniqu-ie and seam it. I am scared wit-less.

Look at my beautiful knitted fabric. Oh, yeah yippee hee,hee! my knitted fabric kinda funny saying that.I have the back completed and about 95 percent of the front yeepee! Well I love stitch markers but I won't make them for myself. I was surfing and came across these pearl stitch markers amd I ordered them and she sent a lovely sample of her own home spun yarn isn't it purty... Pearls are my jewels I love pearls. I wear my pearl stud earrings everyday. I have been baby sitting ALL weekend I got the news when the doorbell rang. Hee,hee! dh oops, had a lapse of what do you call it??? Shame on me I was just zipping out to drop my daughter off at a end of year party. I had to do the mad shuffle, see we are a household of two seater cars and my son has the only four passenger truck two car seats would fit into. Well he was working on a promotion for his Dad my dh who put him also in a two passenger vehicle for Saturday and to make a long story short I was grounded. But I was given yummy hugs,cuddles and got to sleep with two babies between us like when my babies were little. I am no slAcKEr, today I was inspired it was cool and overcasty & gloomy by California's standards we usually suffer in the 70's here hee,hee! I am naughty to the naughty corner for me. I worked on my Nothing But a T-shirt today and BLESS ME in public no less. I had to take my fashionista daughter of course at the last minute because yes we did have the whole school year to go to a museum. But since her freshman school year ends in THREE days her museum report is due!!!! Well, heck what would "I" have to do on sunday but be waiting with baited breathe car keys in hand to take my fashionista to MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art. It was family day and the kids and parents were hopping, swirling, rolling, and many other motions following the ever entertaing drumming docent on tour. My daughters eyes popped out of her head as I mentioned we, herself, her brother and I did that! hee,hee! well I got to sit on a bench and knit as she wrote her thoughts on the work of art and its various mediums. I am now at the bust increases as I write.

I present you with a picture of my knitting needles. My needles are a combination of a swap meet find of over a hundred including dpns a bunch and the other few are purchased as various projects dictated. I am pretty jazzed I recieved information for the secret pal exchange. I can't share any tid-bits but she seems really awesome. I have been swatching, hells bells who knew how important it is to swatch. Something about guage and so on hee, hee! well atleast I can laugh about all this knowledge I am getting maybe when I grow up I will be able to knit. I am going to read At Knits End by the Yarn Harlot. Has anyone read it? I read it is full of knitisisms hummm...who knew that was I word. Today is going to be my watching movies and yes, SwATcHiNg day. I should be swatch-ed/watch-ed out by the end of the day. Oops, on my back-tack front what a blast I am finishing the, well I can't actually say lest I be found out by my back tack person I am sewing for. But, a certain someone who I sent fabric to as part of the back-tack exchange who is talented and brillantly creative claims she figured me out hee,hee! Psst! I think she did what a hoot!

Here is the closed view of the knitting needle roll case I am making. I am audtioning some felted flowers I made. The center of my floweers has some beads I sewed on as accents. I was thinking of adding a whip stitch trim on the flower petals.I am still trying to figure out what I will use as a closure. No knitting news on the homefront. I did buy some Japanese craft books, wow even though I do not read Japanese they are understandable and the detailed picture's are helpful.

This is the knitting needle holder I am making for my 'bt pal' I am using a combination of the fabric that was originally sent to me through my other 'back tack' pal. I added additional fabric from my fabric stash plus some vintage embroidered linen.

I am progressing s-l-o-w-l-y on my n.b. t-shirt. I have come to terms I get bored and I know I dislike repetetion and I prefer instant gratification. Well this is my progress on my sweater t-shirt thus far and my hourglass sweater I started a sleeve and well... OK, so its been really hot here in SoCal and really I won't be wearing them until the winter and... I know what a lame excuse but truth be told they are currently lingering as UFO's. But I did make this cute stuffed felt poofy pillowy I don't quite know what it is yet thing. My fashionista daughter named it a strawberry shortcake. I should have put sand in the base so it could be a pincushion. I am getting reved up for my backtack work of art. I kinda have a gameplan for my notion/needle case for my pal but, I have too many ideas so there! Alert! The Big Green Monster has been spotted. I am so jealous I have been surfing some of the other blogs in the back-tack exchange all I can say is I am humbled. There are some very talented people in this group. The research and sites linked to their blogs and some of the fabric stashes alone. I know I would love a knitting needle/notions case and I would also love a travel type of small case to carry in my purse or knitting tote. Psst! in the picture under my knitting is my knitting bag it is made from vintage fabric and I just love it. About two years ago I needlepointed a scissor case and I ended up lining it with some vintage japanese fabric it usually is always in my purse but now it is so abused I have a darning needle in there and stitch markers and a cable stitch holder (for the long awaited day I learn to cable) and a seam riper. I am off to ponder on my artistic meanderings...

Back Tack

Today I recieved my stuff for the Back Tack exchange.The first fabric the larger piece is a happy stripe. The other two are solids, one is a bright yellow and the last one is a bright pink. I also recieved some assorted colored buttons and a bright green zipper. I am so excited this is going to be quite a creative endeavor. WooHoo!!!

Nothin' but a T-shirt

I decided to make Nothin' but a T-shirt. I am making it with the cashmere I bought in NY. I hoping it will be yummy apparently it will soften and fluff up after I was it. I am pretty excited about it, the cashmere is in a worsted weight. So far so good on the back I am pass the first decrease and on the front I am almost there. I am hoping this will be a faster knit I am back in the blaws with the Hourglass Sweater. I stsrted the sleeves but it is a bit hard on the hands with the smaller plasticy circulars.

Green Plasticy Needles

finally size7 12inch circulars

Well as you can see I have a new banner and button created for me by missa over at moonarts http://www.moonarts.com and I think she did a great job! 'holla' to Missa I finally found a size 7 12inch pair of circulars they are bright green plastic ones in Japanese packaging by clover. I have been on a endless search for 12 inch circulars I did find out Addi does make them but it was out of stock everywhere I looked go figure. Well I am going to get my beautiful hourglass sweater finished woo hoo! Laura over at the Premie Project has offered to help teach me how to cable, but she asked me to find a pattern. Hummm, now I have to pick a pattern I don't know what I should start with. Does anyone out there know of a basic cable scarf pattern I could learn to cable with? PLEASEEEEEEE

my prvious addiction, fabric

today I went looking for a pair of circular needles size #7 in a 12in. length, hum! I can't find them! It must be a typo on my "Hourglass" instructions I need to start my sleeves and it is asking for size#7 12in. circular needles. I tried on dpns but my gauge was so off I frogged it. I don't know what to do? I thought maybe size#6 dpns or try my 16in.size#7 circulars. I happened into my yarn slash/really a quilt shop store. I found some fabric for my back-tack exchange. It is this exchange were I send fabric to a annonymous person and then I recieve fabric from a separate annonymous person and I make a notions case for someone and send it on back with fun notions in it based on their crafts. So I can make a sewing type notions case or maybe knitting or crocheting. It is basically a secret pal exchange with a twist. So I of course bought probably enough for a few notions bags. I can't believe all the new fabrics out, yum! I guess I have been knitting so much in the past year and have been in yarn mode. I thought I would make one for a friend or truth justify my additional fabric purchase. I have been sewing since I was 9 well over 30 some years, smile. I am again self taught in this craft. I actually ventured into quilting, free-motion embroidery, soft doll making, the endless home sewing stuff, my childrens clothes and of course the still endless costumes due to a holiday or school event. When I got home I went into my fabric stash and found some other bits and well, OK! I probably sent way to much, some were quilting scraps and some were just larger piece's I cut down. I couldn't make up my mind. I am sorry back-tack exchange sew'r-upper pal. I got nervous and couldn't figure out which you would prefer to work with since I found out you are a quite an artist. Well i did cast on for a cardigan today it is "Ghost" by Kim Hardgraves. I have always wanted one like this I would have like to be able to make one with cables but NNNOOO, I don't know how to cable. My pal from secretpal4 is making one up I really admired it and this pattern is as close as I could find. I am making a cream one in Rowan All Season Cotton. Well gotta go the troops are calling.

I so want to learn how to cable. I am a visual learner and reading instructions in books has me at my wits end. I just have not been able to put the words into cabeling action. I would love to knit a cabeled sweater one day. A dream so very far off. But I was looking through a magazine today and was taunted by this purse.

How is it daily life can go from one extreme to another? I have been out of town and came back to slew of endless activities, appts, driving, working and my daughters birthday and today is only wednesday. I did progress on my "Hourglass" sweater I am pretty jazzed about it considering I had become so bored with it. I don't know why that happened. But I pushed my self on. I actually worked on it during one of the meetings I attended. I didn't realise at one point I was so distracted listening and watching a video presentation I actually was knitting in the dark not even looking down. I glanced down and saw I had actually knitted about two inches. But I don't expect there will ever be a repeat performance because I have tried it since to no sucess go figure. But I am just about ready to start on the yoke. I never thought I could ever knit anything like this ever. Tonight I had to clean the corner between the wall and the sofa where I have my projects and books stashed and well what do you know I have three started projects OK and yarn for quite a few more. I also have my complete premie beanies I started for the premie project and well I actually organized my knitting needles. I found a really great circular needle holder and matching knitting bag that is very well made at a great yarn shop I popped into named Jennifer Knits in L.A.. I have to say it is the friendliest yarn shop I have been in with a great selection of yarn, books and her own patterns. I had heard she was awesome and you could actually come in with a picture and or a idea and she would create the pattern for you or adjust a pattern to your measurements or needs and help you find yarn for your project. I have to say she is very friendly, kind and take's her time to listen and considering I am new to knitting and I really do not know what I am doing or speak the lingo that is definately a plus. She had me knit up a swatch and then counted and calculated and measured ok maybe not in that order hee, hee! But I even found out I purl backwards, smile! I am totally self taught. She and her staff are brillant. One of the gals there designed the "Newsboy Cap" in Stitch and Bitch Nation and she is also very paitent, kind and can help with your knitting woes. Did I mention Jennifer is pregnant and about due any time and was so patient I was shocked! I admire her if it was me due any minute all I can say is RUN! hee, hee! It is refreshing to know there is still paitence, understanding and a willingness to teach a age old art. Well I better get to bed I have a few more of these endless days yet. I did get yarn and a customized pattern today too I will post later when I get my projects caught up.
